The Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine compiled the mid-term forecast on the basis of data from the State Statistics Service of Ukraine on the number of employed population sorted by types of economic activity and by professional groups, taking into account propositions of the central executive authorities, the regional and Kyiv City state administrations, the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, sectoral national academies of sciences and other budgetary institutions.
According to the Ministry’s forecast, the need for specialists and workers in the Ukrainian labor market will be approximately:
– 394.59 k people in 2020;
– 398.43 k people in 2021;
– 457.36 k people in 2022;
– 472.19 k people in 2023;
– 527.37 k people in 2024.
In 2020 the highest demand is expected to be in industry (88.04 k people), construction (66.64 k people), wholesale and retail trade, repair of vehicles and motorcycles (63.08 k people), transport, storage, postal and courier services (33.93 k people).
Demand for labor force in agriculture, forestry and fisheries will increase up to 24.44 k people in 2024 compared to the same indicator in 2020.
The relative demand in public administration and defense, compulsory social insurance will increase up to 44.18 k people in 2024.
It is expected that the demand for labor force in social and healthcare sectors will be 11.98 k people in the end of 2020 and 18.14 k people in 2024.
As for information and telecommunications industry the demand will increase up to 26.99 k people in 2024 compared to 13.80 k people in 2020.
In 2020 demand in temporary accommodation and catering, financial and insurance sector, real estate, professional, scientific and technical services, activities in the field of administrative and support services, education, arts, sports, entertainment and recreation and others will be 71.5 k people in total.
The demand for teachers will grow steadily and reach the number of 7.69 k people in 2020 and 10.52 k people in 2024.
In general, there is an objective process of a gradual shift of demand for employees in the service sector, a parallel coexistence of demand of industrial enterprises for professionals, specialists and workers.
